Mia Barzilay Freund is a writer from New York City. She writes the culture newsletter The Brim, where she explores the ethics of applying deodorant in a library, the best country songs about dogs, and the genre of the YouTube room tour. She’s at work on a novel set in Nashville during a bachelorette trip. She studied English literature at Brown University, where she wrote about Jane Austen and worked as a personal trainer.
